Yankuang Cathay Coal Chemicals Co, Ltd. ("Cathay CoalChem") is a Sino-foreign joint venture established in 2004 by Cathay and the Yankuang Group, one of China’s largest coal miners. YCCC owns and operates one of the largest methanol and acetic acid manufacturing plants in China. The Shandong-based facility gasifies coal to produce methanol which is then used to produce acetic acid. Acetic acid is a basic industrial chemical used to finish metals, and used to produce films, paints, plastic and synthetic textile products. SinoPetro New Energy Group Co. ("SinoPetro") is one of China’s few privately owned natural gas pipeline operators. SinoPetro owns three major pipeline projects located in Hunan Province, Shandong Province and Hebei Province. The Hunan pipeline distributes natural gas for the city of Hengyang and is the only natural gas pipeline in southern Hunan Province. SinoPetro’s customers include steel manufacturers, power plants and other industrial, commercial and residential users. SinoPetro used the capital provided by Cathay to extend its existing pipeline and to acquire and construct additional natural gas pipelines. |
